1. Name of Organization

The Northern Ontario Friends of Animal Society formally changed it's name to "The Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society" (N.O.A.W.S.), effective February 4, 1998.

2. Purpose of Organization

The purposes of "The Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society" are as follows:
  1. To reduce pet overpopulation in Northern Ontario Communities by providing a spay/neuter subsidy program to low income families, individuals and senior citizens
  2. To educate the public regarding their pets and:
    • the importance of spaying/neutering
    • proper care and training
    • the prevention of abuse
  3. To provide financial assistance to low income families and individuals and to senior citizens, as it pertains to food, medical care and assistance for their pets
  4. To care for, neuter or spay, and find permanent homes for homeless animals
3. Non-profit Clause

The "Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society" is a non-profit organization, which will carry on without purpose of gain for its members, and any profits or other accretions to the organization shall be used solely to promote its objectives, that are:

  1. Providing a spay/neuter subsidy program to low income families and individuals and to senior citizens
  2. Promoting, through public education, the importance of spaying/neutering, proper care and training, and abuse/neglect prevention in pets
  3. Providing financial assistance to low income families and individuals, and to senior citizens, as it pertains to food, medical care and assistance for their pets
  4. Caring for, neutering/spaying and finding good, permanent homes for homeless animals
4. Structure of Organization ("Executive")

The structure of the "Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society" is as follows: 5. Replacement of Executive

Executive members will be chosen at every second "annual meeting", to be held at the beginning of the fiscal year. Nominations will be made by members of the organization, and elections will be by secret ballot vote system.

6. Date of Effectiveness

This document is effective February 4, 1998.

STATEMENT OF ACTIVITIES

The Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society (NOAWS) is a non-profit organization coordinated solely by volunteers whose goal it is to help reduce pet overpopulation and promote animal welfare in Northern Ontario by:

  1. Being part of a coordinated effort with a local veterinarian that helps low income families and individuals and senior citizens spay or neuter their pets;


  2. Educating the public on animal welfare, care and training of pets, and promoting spaying or neutering their pets;


  3. Providing financial assistance to low income families and individuals, and to senior citizens, as it pertains to food, medical care and assistance for their pets;


  4. Caring for homeless, abused, neglected and abandoned animals by providing shelter, food and medical care until such time as permanent homes can be found.
