NOAWS PALS Program

Spay/Neuter Subsidies

NOTE: DUE TO FUNDING CONSTRAINTS, NOAWS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING PALS APPLICATIONS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

To further its stated purpose of reducing the cruelty of pet overpopulation by encouraging pet owners to have pets sterilized, the Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society (NOAWS), with the assistance of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), has established a spay/neuter subsidy fund to assist qualifying pet owners with spay/neuter surgery costs.

NOAWS PALS (Prevent-A-Litter Subsidy) Program is designed to assist qualifying individuals from Northern Ontario with the cost of spaying or neutering animals in their immediate care. Criteria for approval of assistance are flexible and based on a variety of factors. Prospective clients must meet at least one of the following eligibility requirements to qualify:

  • Low/fixed family income
  • Receiving social assistance/pension
  • Senior citizen
  • Other "special circumstances" as reviewed/approved by NOAWS PALS Committee

  • NOAWS will subsidize the cost of spay/neuter for cats and dogs, including the cost of initial examination/office visit and vaccine, if required, in the following amounts:

  • Cat Spay: $50
  • Cat Neuter: $40
  • Dog Spay: $100
  • Dog Neuter: $80
  • Vaccine: $25
  • Note that the only veterinary clinic participating in this program is the Iroquois Falls Animal Hospital, and thus all surgeries must be performed at this location. Contact the IFAH at (705) 232-7172.
